About Dawn

Hello! My name is Dawn K. Wing, and I’m originally from Queens, NY. I am currently a Reference and Instruction Librarian at Metropolitan State University in Saint Paul (MN).

I enjoy helping students develop their information, media and cultural literacy skills in engaging ways, particularly through media and graphic novels. At Metro State, I have the privilege of furthering students’ intercultural education by facilitating explorations of global issues at diverse venues. I am excited by collaborative opportunities with faculty to integrate innovative instructional technology into their classroom.  I enjoy curating educational programs meeting the needs and interests of faculty, staff and students.

Prior to my career as a librarian, I taught English as a Second Language (ESL) in public schools and worked with students from all over the world.  My fascination with different cultures, languages, and food has led me to travel and live in various countries like New Zealand and Japan.

I enjoy combining my passion for teaching, outreach and creativity in diverse learning communities.  I always find it deeply fulfilling to help patrons/students achieve their academic and professional goals. Through teaching, I have the opportunity to learn from the life experiences of others.

My interests include creating zines and comics, traveling, swimming, bicycling and hiking.
