Diversity and Engagement
My experiences growing up Chinese-American in New York, teaching English as a Second Language to immigrant students and assisting UW-Madison's SLIS diversity initiatives have profoundly impacted my commitment to ensuring equitable services and accessible resources to patrons of all backgrounds. From 2014-2018, I served as co-advisor to the SCCC Asian Culture Club and as member of the College Diversity Committee.
Currently, at Metropolitan State University (MinnState), I serve as a member to the Faculty of Color Mentorship committee and the Library Events committee where I collaborate with campus/community partners to coordinate literary programs that showcase local BIPOC creative talent and voices.
At UW-Madison, I had the honor of providing educational programming and displays regarding diversity issues as a LIS Access Midwest Program (LAMP) Project Assistant in 2011-2012. I am also an ALA Spectrum Scholar (2011) and presented a talk on the importance of seeking mentors in the LIS profession to Spectrum Scholars at the ALA Annual Conference in 2015.
